Airline Standby Upgrade From Economy To Business Class

I was reading up about various airlines’ business class and noted there is something called airline standby upgrade which allows travelers to upgrade from economy to business class at a fraction of business class cost.
Standby upgrade means you do not purchase any business class seats in advance. Instead, on your day of flight, you should arrive at the airport early. Then, you check with the airline airport counter if there is available seats on business class for you to do a standby upgrade.
