Disney Character Dim Sum

Crystal Lotus Restaurant is well known for its cute Disney character dim sum.

It is important to take note that these specially made dim sum is only available over the weekends and reservation is highly recommended.

In fact, when I was in Hong Kong, I called up the restaurant to reserve a table and I told them specifically that I want to have the Disney character dim sum. Apparently, guests have to pre-book these character dim sums as they are hot items. If you don’t book, you may run the chance of not able to taste these dim sums on the actual day.

Dim Sums We Taste

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Chicken Feet (HKD48/basket)

This dish is nice. My mum and my favorite dim sum dish, but not really for the men.

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Disney Seafood Pancake (HKD58/plate)

Even though my girl is not a young kid anymore, she is still delighted to see Mickey’s face on plate. I supposed the dish adds to her appetite as she asked for more servings.

This dish is crispy and tastes nice.

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Disney Taro Pudding (HKD68/plate)

Comparing to the Disney pancake, I prefer the former to Disney Taro pudding.

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Shrimp Dumplings (HKD58/basket)

This dish is very nice. One bite and you really know that Crystal Lotus uses very fresh ingredient.

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Duffy Red Bean Bun (HKD60/basket)

Aren’t the cook a genius? I really think they are! How come they can think of incorporating cute cartoon characters into food. These dim sum are not only interesting to look at but taste nice too!

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Steamed Spare Ribs (HKD48/basket)

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Steamed Spare Ribs (HKD48/basket)

This is my hubby’s traditional favorite dish, but his verdict is he likes the Singapore style better. I took one bite too. It taste different from Singapore style. Less fatty (maybe thats why not really hubby’s style. ha ha) and it has yam inside as well.

I don’t think it is not nice. Perhaps it just taste different from what hubby used to have, so he is not used to the new taste.

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Fisherman's Congee HKD88/bowl)

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Fisherman's Congee HKD88/bowl)

My friend once told me if you go to Hong Kong, you must taste the congee. I was afraid that I did not have the chance to taste the street congee, so over here we decided to order a bowl to try.

The name of this congee sounds simple. Just Fisherman congee, but it contains ingredients such as scallop, prawn, abalone and thats why the price is not simple.

The congee is very smooth and ingredients are very fresh. Serving is big enough for 2-3 small bowls. The only thing is we find the congee a little bit salty.

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Flour Roll Shrimps (HKD68/plate)

We ordered both the flour roll with shrimp and BBQ pork. We find that the flour roll in shrimp tastes better. The shrimp is very fresh.

Of course the price of flour roll with shrimp (HKD68/plate) is higher than the one with BBQ pork (HKD48/plate).

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Sea Whelk Soup (HKD98/coconut)

This soup is tasty and special. It has retain the coconut taste and I love to chew the ingredients cook in the soup.

Mum loves this dish too!

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - BBQ Pork Buns (HKD78/basket)

Dim Sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - BBQ Pork Buns (HKD78/basket)

What does three little pigs remind you? Big bad wolf?

No… actually they should remind you that pig is pork and here why you have the BBQ Pork buns.

Little pig, little pig, I am going to eat you up because you are really delicious! Yum yum!

Dim sum at Crystal Lotus Restaurant - Pork & Vegetable Bun (HKD78/basket)

Another hot item for Disney character dim sum is the three eyes green man. Pork and vegetables mix bun.

I personally think the three little pig tastes better.

Cost of Dim Sum

In total, we have ate 13 items and paid HKD 1203 (including 10% service charge) for 5 pax.

This translate to about SGD43 per pax.

My overall verdict is the food is fresh. To have Disney character dim sum adds to the fun of having dim sum in Hong Kong. It is more for an experience as Singapore dim sum can also taste as nice as Hong Kong!

Do drop by the Crystal Lotus restaurant when you next visit Hong Kong!

Cheers

Karen
