Guess If Airfare Prices Increase or Decrease After Natas Fair 2010?

Hi Friends,

Taking advantage of the recent Natas Fair 2010, we booked our air tickets to visit Macau and Hong Kong in July 2010. Guess if the airfare prices increase or decrease after Natas Fair 2010?

Fly From Singapore To Macau (Departure)

jetstar

We chose a one way trip from Singapore to Macau on 12 July 2010.

During Natas Fair 2010, Jetstar was promoting its airfare to Macau at S$68.88

We upgraded the air ticket from Jetsaver Light (hand carry luggage only) to Jetsaver (hand carry luggage plus 20kg checked in luggage) by paying additional S$15.00 / ticket.

We paid a final price of S$167.67  for 2 tickets or S$83.88/ticket

When I checked Jetstar’s website today, the 2 Jetsaver tickets of the same terms is priced at S$246 or S$123/ticket.

So there is a actual savings of S$39/ticket during Natas fair 2010.

Fly from Hong Kong to Singapore (Return)

As we intend to travel from Macau to Hong Kong, we chose to fly on Tiger Airways from Hong Kong to Singapore.

Tiger Airways

During Natas Fair 2010, Tiger Airways is promoting Hong Kong air ticket at S$119 inclusive of taxes

To depart on 19 July 2009, it cost us HK$1382 (or S$261 at exchange rate 5.3), inclusive of 20kg checked in luggage,  when we booked in Feb 2010.

If we are to book the same flight today, the same two air tickets will cost HK$1582 ( or S$298 at exchange rate 5.3).

There is a savings of S$37 for 2 tickets or S$18.50 per air ticket. This savings is rather minimal as compared to Jetstar.

Summary

The total savings for booking the air tickets during Natas Fair 2010 are S$115 for 2 tickets.

Out of total cost of S$429.00, the savings of S$115 (27%) is substantial. I can book 1 night of three star hotel at Macau, isn’t it?

So if you think that Natas fair does not really save you money, well….I beg to differ. Or at least I did save some money in my airfare.

However, to make it more interesting, I will be tracking and blogging how this air tickets are priced as we approached closer to my trip in July 2010.

To Macau and Hong Kong, we are coming very soon!

Cheers,
Karen
