Japan Trip (Day 7)
Today is our free & easy day in Tokyo.
After our breakfast, our tour guide brought us to the train station near our apartment.
He guided us on how to take the trains to our places of interest.
Our first stop is Harajuku!
Harajuku is a destination to visit to experience Japan’s most extreme teenage cultures and fashion styles.
Along Takeshita street, you will find many trendy shops, fashion boutiques, crepe stands and fast food geared towards fashionable teenagers.
On Sunday, many young people dressed in cosplay (“costume play”) will gather at Harajuku.
Lets see what things are the items sold by the shops lining the street of Harajuku?
Chihuahua seems to be a favorite dog to keep in small apartment in Japan.
Wait! We spot Japanese in cosplay.
Since it is a free & easy day, lunch is on our own.
We went to Yoshinoya for our lunch as our tour guide said the taste is better in Japan.
This is the beef set meal served in Japan
The beef has more sauce and taste sweeter in Japan. Really tender and we love it!
After lunch, we are off to our second stop.
Here we are at Japan’s Akihabara!
Akihabara (also known as Akiba) is a district in Japan, famous for its many electronic shops.
It is a dream destination for my hubby and so for many men out there.
After Akihabara, we are off to our third stop- Shibuya.
Shibuya is one of Tokyo’s most colorful and busy districts.
Here is the place to visit to witness Japan’s fashion and entertainment trends.
Shibuya is crowded with large department and fashion stores belonging to either Tokyu or Seibu (the two competing corporations in Japan)
Night scene at Shibuya.
I must admit that almost all Japanese I saw are dressed in trendy coats, boots. This is quite unlike in Singapore, where we spot more people in casual tees and jeans.
At night, we parked ourselves at a small Japanese inn serving ramen and curry rice.
The ramen, served by a normal Japanese inn, really tastes nicer than those we find in Singapore.
A bowl of ramen costs around S$6, so it is very affordable.
The cook’s precious time is in preparation of a good meal.
We will have to use this machine to select the meal that we want.
It is quite an experience today as we discover more on Tokyo.
Tomorrow (day8) is our last day in Japan. Tune in again to see where we are going….
Cheers,
Karen
