Before you make your payment for a tour package at Natas Fair, what should you look out for?

This question may start you thinking, right?

Is it important? Indeed some people do not bother to read the terms and conditions, or more commonly known as Booking conditions of their tour packages before they pass their credit card to the smiling travel agency staff.

We are too engrossed with the picture of the itinerary; too occupied with checking if the travel dates suit our travel companion… that we sometimes forget that we have to check the booking conditions first.

Most tour agencies state their standard terms of contract behind their invoice, tour booking form or passenger statement. The better tour agencies will brief you through the terms and conditions and the kiasu tour agencies will get you to sign besides the important clauses to indicate you have read and understood their terms.

Important terms of contract include

1) cancellation of tour package by you

2) Refund of amount paid

3) Cancellation of tour package by tour agency

Once you sign the acceptance, you are bound to the contractual terms of conditions. This is irregardless whether you have made just a deposit or full payment. When dispute occurs, tour agencies will refer you to the binding terms of conditions which you have earlier agreed upon. Thus it becomes difficult or lengthy to win you case.

Hence, it is very important to read and understand the terms and conditions of your purchased travel product before making any commitment to the transaction. So after you decide on the tour package, ask the tour agency to brief you on the terms of conditions before you make the final sign off.

If your travel agent promises you verbally to upgrade your room or give you a freebie, do get the travel agent to write them on the booking form or invoice. Of course, getting a name card of the travel agency staff is equally important.
